My memoir in progress is the story of the most amazing thing I’ll never do again: sail the world on a 180-foot tall ship with 42 strangers and an egomaniacal sea captain. We crossed three oceans and visited four continents between Fiji and Nova Scotia, while I lived for a year among roaches and bedbugs, learned the language of gypsy heads and t’gallant halyards, and battled to earn a saltier nickname than Barbie. What began as a romanticized quest for beauty became a cathartic, revelatory, lust-filled journey toward living a life less ordinary.
